PL files representation in the Chamber against Camila Jara, accused of assaulting Nikolas Ferreira

The leader of the PL in the Chamber of Deputies, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ), changed his speech and stated this Friday, 8, that he will file a representation against deputy Camila Jara (PT-MS) “for breach of decorum with a request for precautionary suspension of the mandate”.
The congressman accuses the Workers' Party member of assaulting Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) while the Speaker of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), was reclaiming his seat on the Board of Directors after two days of occupation. Camila denies the alleged shove or punch.
"We just represented Congresswoman Camila Jara. The cowardly attack on Congressman Nikolas Ferreira will not go unpunished. The video shows it all: a blow from behind. A fallen congressman. A congresswoman laughing and mocking afterward," the congressman wrote via his X (former Twitter handle).
The statement marks a shift in Sóstenes's stance. The day before, in a speech in the Chamber of Deputies, the congressman apologized to Motta, defended peace, and said that "if it's up to the bill, we won't take action against the left-wing congresswoman (Camila Jara). Do you know why? Because emotionally, she was like all of us, including me."
In his speech, the PL leader also stated that he had spoken with Nikolas to avoid filing a complaint against Camila. The politician, however, reiterated the assault accusation throughout his speech.
Camila Jara, for her part, denies the attack. The politician says she is being treated for thyroid cancer and currently stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 104 pounds.
She was diagnosed with the disease this year and underwent medical procedures to remove the tumor. The congresswoman is recovering and undergoing treatments to maintain her immune system and fully recover her voice.
In a statement, the congresswoman's office stated that she "reacted to the pushing and shoving in the same way any woman would react in a riot, when a man presses her into the crowd. There was no punching or any other act of deliberate violence."
Since the incident, Nikolas Ferreira has posted a series of attacks on the parliamentarian, even calling her a "jararaca." Camila says that "the result of this campaign of harassment has been hundreds of offensive comments and threats to her physical safety and even her life."
