Government will review citizenship subject in the next school year

The Government has already approved the revision of the Citizenship and Development subject, which will come into effect from the next academic year, and will ban mobile phones in classrooms. Both measures were already included in the AD program.
Leitão Amaro, however, forwarded more “details” to the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, who is expected to present the measures next week.
It should be recalled that the Prime Minister, at the closing of the PSD Congress in October, promised to free the discipline from “ ideological constraints” with a view to “promoting the culture and democratic values that guide Portuguese society” .
Regarding the use of mobile phones in classrooms, the Government released the results of a survey to all principals, which showed that schools that opted for the ban saw a decrease in bullying and improvements in student socialization. According to the study, 40% of schools already had rules in place. And, this school year, following the recommendations, 76.7% of primary schools and 40.9% of secondary schools banned the use of mobile phones.
