A Smartphone-Like Revolution? Meta and Ray-Ban Brand Owner Develop a Joint Project

The French-Italian concern EssilorLuxotica reported consolidated net revenues of USD 8.1 billion in the third quarter, which represents an increase of 11.7% year-on-year.
In a stock exchange announcement, the company announced that the largest revenue growth occurred in the smart glasses segment. Customer interest is growing quarterly, and joint work with Meta Platforms on new solutions is very promising.
Demand for AI-enabled glasses is driving sales growth, and demand has prompted us to accelerate our eyewear production capacity plans compared to previous assumptions, EssilorLuxottica said in a statement.
According to Barclays bank analysts, smart glasses may prove to be a breakthrough solution comparable to the widespread use of mobile telephony.
The latest flagship Ray-Ban Meta models, in integrated lens versions, range in price from $379 to $799. They are currently available at a limited number of Ray-Ban retail stores.
They will go on sale in Italy, Canada, the UK, and France in 2026. Google, Apple, and Samsung are also working intensively on similar solutions.
EssilorLuxottica shares on the Paris Stock Exchange rose today by €36.50 (13.40%) to €313.50.
