"Getting our Panama hats ready": forecasters told what kind of weather is expected in Moscow in the summer

Snow and frost are behind us. And ahead is summer, holidays, vacation season. The chief specialist of the Meteonovosti information agency Tatyana Pozdnyakova shared a preliminary weather forecast for the entire upcoming season.

Spring is drawing to a close and we are starting to make plans for the summer, says the weather forecaster:

— The weather plays an important role in this. Foreign weather forecast models for the upcoming season are almost unanimous: summer will happen in Moscow. In June, the long-term average monthly air temperature in the capital is 17.4 degrees. And this year, the air temperature norm may be exceeded by 1-1.5 degrees. There is a high probability that even in the first month of summer, the maximum air temperature will reach +30 degrees for several days. Last June, the first and last two days of the month in Moscow were above +30. As for rain, six out of eight models predict a precipitation deficit in June. In general, we do not expect constant showers, like last year.

The following months of summer also prepare Muscovites for warmth and a lack of precipitation.

— This year, winter surprised Muscovites with positive temperatures and no snow, — notes Pozdnyakova. — But some forecasters said that nature would take its toll in another season. And the cold weather really did come in the spring. Let's hope that nature hit us with the May snow and put everything in its place, and the summer will be warm. The first half of May was cold throughout the European part of the country. But we evaluate the weather by calendar months. And nature has its own cycles, and they do not always coincide with the calendar. The period of warm weather can begin at the end of May and end in mid-June. It is difficult to say yet how the temperatures will be distributed within each month of the season.

But the forecasts for the last days of May are more accurate. In the final five days of May, the temperature will exceed +25 degrees. Get your sunglasses, sun hats and sunscreen ready.

Evgeny Tishkovets, leading specialist at the Phobos weather center:

— June will not grab the stars from the sky, however, it will slowly even out the climatic imbalances and gradually come into its own. As for the swimming season, it will not begin with the beginning of the calendar summer — the water will still be cold and will not warm up to the required condition until the second ten days of June — closer to the middle of the month.
