The share of young people: the youngest entrepreneur in the Novgorod region is only 16 years old

As of early May 2025, 3.6 thousand individual entrepreneurs (IE) under the age of 35 were registered in the Novgorod Region. According to Novgorodstat, the share of young people in the total number of IE is 22%. Every fourth has not yet reached the age of 25. The youngest businessman is 16 years old.

The most popular types of activity among young people are retail and wholesale trade (26% of all registered individual entrepreneurs under the age of 35), transport and construction (11% each), and manufacturing (7%).

The largest number of entrepreneurs (1.5 thousand) who opened their business at the age of up to 35 years old are in Veliky Novgorod. At the same time, the leader in the share of young businessmen was the Volotovsky District (32% of the total number of individual entrepreneurs in the municipality).

Let us add that 2/3 of young entrepreneurs in the Novgorod region are men.
