"It is not a sin": Priest calls not to equate alcohol with alcoholism
In an interview with Radio Sputnik, priest Pavel Ostrovsky emphasized that moderate alcohol consumption should not be equated with alcoholism. He explained that excessive drinking is unacceptable, but drinking alcohol within reasonable limits is not considered a sin.
"The Church does not consider alcohol itself a sin. Drunkenness is considered a sin, and quite a big one at that. Alcohol, if in moderation and does not lead to any destructive consequences, is not a sin," the priest noted.
Earlier, the narcologist spoke about the dangers of drinking alcohol in hot weather. He explained that both high temperatures and alcohol contribute to the dilation of blood vessels. When these factors act together, their effect increases, which can cause a sharp drop in blood pressure. In addition, intoxication occurs much faster in the heat.
