Almost half of Germans do not want the new government to continue supporting Kyiv - poll

Almost half of Germans (46%) do not want the new government that will be formed after the elections held on February 23 to continue supporting Ukraine with finances and weapons. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by the research company Insa for the news portal t-online.
Only 28% of respondents said they would like the new cabinet to continue financial support for Kyiv, as well as arms supplies. The opinions of another 15% of survey participants were divided - 7% support continuing only financial assistance, 8% want Berlin to help Kyiv only with weapons.
The survey analysis shows that women were more willing than men to speak out about the need to stop supporting Ukraine — 51% versus 40% of survey participants. There is also a difference in attitudes towards this issue between different age groups. Among respondents aged 18-29, 57% believe that Berlin should stop supporting Kyiv. In the age group over 70, only 28% of survey participants expressed this opinion.
In addition, the traditional difference in sentiment between residents of the western lands and the regions of the former GDR remains. In the West, 42% of respondents were in favor of ending support for Ukraine, while in the East, the figure was 61%. Significant differences were found among supporters of different parties. While the overwhelming majority of Green voters want to continue supporting Ukraine (72%), supporters of the Alternative for Germany and the Sahra Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) party are strongly against it (79% in both cases).
