It is forbidden to go out on the ice

Asian Champion, forward for Ust-Kamenogorsk Torpedo and the Kazakhstan national hockey team, Alexey ZUBOV, has been disqualified for three years for doping.
The hockey player will be able to take to the ice in official matches no earlier than December 10, 2027. This decision was made by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Let us recall that traces of a banned drug, oralturinabol, were found in the doping sample taken from Zubov at the 2024 Asian Championship in Almaty. The hockey player himself does not know how the anabolic steroid got into his body.
- The tests show that the banned substances entered the body two or three years ago. They last up to four years. How and when I could have taken some kind of banned supplement, I don’t know. If I had taken something on purpose, that would be a different matter. But for me it was a shock when I found out that they found something banned in me, - Alexey Zubov admitted in an interview with shaiba.kz.
This season, the 27-year-old forward played 22 matches in the regular championship of Kazakhstan and scored 18 (3 + 15) points. At the 2024 Asian Championship, Zubov earned one point (0 + 1) in three matches. Alexey did not play at the 2025 Asian Games, as he had already been suspended from the competition.
