Fraudsters have started to pretend to be representatives of IT companies, offering victims to allegedly participate in closed testing of some services. This was reported by Andrey Biychuk, director of the product "Defender" of MTS, in an interview with RIA Novosti .
"The attackers call the potential victim, introducing themselves as testers or employees of a large IT company, bank or platform, allegedly conducting closed testing of a new system. They may talk about a beta version of an application to improve financial security, an improved transfer system, a new level of data protection, and so on," Biychuk said.
According to him, test participants are promised cash rewards, bonuses and other incentives for participation and feedback. Later, under the guise of registration, victims are tricked into giving their phone number, passport details, logins and codes from SMS.
At the final stage, the victim is sent a link supposedly to a personal account. In reality, the user ends up on a phishing site, which creates the risk of losing money or providing attackers with remote access to their resources.
Earlier it was reported that fraudsters began to force their victims to write to technical support themselves in order to eventually gain access to their accounts on Gosuslugi.
