Frost, snow and hail have come to Siberia, while Moscow is experiencing record warmth

On the night of May 27, a temperature record was broken in Moscow - at midnight, thermometers showed +20.4 °C. According to weather forecaster Evgeny Tishkovets , this is ten degrees above the climatic norm and corresponds to the summer indicators of Sochi.

Temperature swings have been observed throughout the country this spring, but forecasters singled out Siberia, where temperatures outpaced climate indicators. In Novosibirsk and the region, the end of last week was hot: the Federal State Budgetary Institution "West Siberian UGMS" warned of temperatures of +30 degrees.

But right after the warmth, a cold front arrived. It got sharply colder and started snowing.

The temperature dropped to -3… -4 degrees, and there was enough snow to cover the streets. Large hail fell in places.

According to the Hydrometeorological Center forecast , Tuesday will be the coldest day in the Novosibirsk region, and the average daily temperature will be 6-8 degrees below normal.

"On May 27, in the afternoon, light precipitation, mainly in the form of snow. Northwest wind 5-10 m/s. Air temperature +3… +5 °C," reported the Federal State Budgetary Institution "West Siberian UGMS".

In the eastern and southeastern regions of Novosibirsk Oblast, frosts will persist on May 28–29. Temperatures will gradually increase, and in the extreme southwestern regions, they will approach the climatic norm on May 29. Closer to the weekend, the anticyclone will push out the clouds, the sky will clear, and thermometers will storm the +20 degree mark.

The Novosibirsk publication Atas.Info notes that the weather managed to catch even Siberians accustomed to its inconstancy by surprise.

“Closer to the weekend, the ‘cold zone’ will shift to areas of Krasnoyarsk Krai,” the Hydrometeorological Center warned.

Forecasters expect the weather to improve soon.

"In Siberia, the weather will be cold at the beginning and in the middle of the week. And by the end of the week, on Saturday, May 31, the temperature in Novosibirsk will rise to +19 °C. The temperature will start to rise on Thursday-Friday - first in Omsk, then in Novosibirsk, and on the weekend already in Krasnoyarsk," said the head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, in an interview with RT .

Forecaster Tishkovets believes that winter will leave Siberia by the weekend, and the July heat will leave the Russian Plain. Thus, the temperature gap will soon be reduced.
