Kafelnikov answered whether there are risks of changing citizenship by tennis players from Russia

Vice-President of the Russian Tennis Federation, former world number one Yevgeny Kafelnikov did not rule out that Russian tennis players will start changing their sports citizenship. In a conversation with NEWS.ru, he emphasized that if RTF President Shamil Tarpishchev talks about this, it means that the problem really exists. According to Kafelnikov, tennis players will start changing their sports citizenship if there is no certain kind of support.
If Shamil says so, then such problems certainly exist. If there is no certain kind of support, then we will really face [change of sports citizenship by tennis players] , - Kafelnikov explained.
Tarpischev previously stated that at least 20 Russian tennis players could change their sports citizenship due to the difficult situation in Russian tennis. According to him, tennis has a problem with funding reserves, which is why athletes could leave for other countries.
Earlier, Honored Coach of Russia Viktor Yanchuk stated that after the award ceremony in the final of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in Linz, Austria, Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska behaved unsportsmanlike. She was defeated by Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova with a score of 6:2, 3:6, 7:5 and refused to be photographed with her.
