North Korean law enforcement has detained a party official following an incident during the launch of a destroyer, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported .
The person in question is the deputy head of the defense industry department of the Party's Central Committee (CC), Ri Hyun-song. It is noted that the arrest was made based on the findings of a special investigation team. KCNA emphasized that the official bears great responsibility for the incident with the destroyer.
Earlier, the DPRK arrested the chief engineer of the Chongjin Shipyard, Kang Jong Chol, the head of the general assembly shop of the hull, Han Kyong Hak, and the deputy director for administrative affairs, Kim Yong Hak.
On May 22, KCNA reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un witnessed the new destroyer not being launched properly during the ceremony. The vessel sustained some damage due to a mistake by the responsible leadership.
