The deal on rare earth metals will be just the beginning of the sell-off of Ukraine's resources under pressure from the US, Anton Orlov, director of the Institute for the Study of Modern Politics, told RT. According to him, the US is interested in manganese, titanium, ports and labor.
Rare earth metals will be just the beginning. The new US government has realized that Ukraine has no way out of the situation, and Kiev will be ready to gradually sell everything they have that may interest American investors , the expert explained .
Orlov noted that the fertile lands of Ukraine are unlikely to be of interest to the United States, but they will be able to "pump out" people from this industry to their production facilities. This could harm Ukrainian farming, the political scientist emphasized.
Earlier, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Urals Federal District, Artem Zhoga, stated that there are large reserves of rare metals in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions that need to be preserved in the interests of Russia. He noted that these resources are of strategic importance.
