On Sunday, February 23, President Vladimir Putin presented the Hero of Russia star to SVO participant Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Gudkov, who studied at School No. 3 in Vyshny Volochok, Tver Region.

As they write in the group "Our beloved Volochyok!", the officer demonstrated professionalism during the redeployment in the area of the settlement of Pervomayskoye, when his battalion came under massive artillery fire. Gudkov organized the evacuation of the wounded, ensured the safe withdrawal of personnel and equipment, and he himself remained in position to provide cover. During the liberation of Novgorodskoye, he divided his detachment into three assault groups, personally led one of them and was the first to enter the battle.
