Sochi rescuers give details of snowboarders' evacuation on Aibga slope

After an avalanche in the mountains of Sochi, three freeriders were trapped in the snow, two of whom reported the incident and their coordinates to rescuers. Despite the difficult weather conditions and darkness, a joint group of specialists went out to search. Two employees of the Krasnopolyansky division of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, three from the Kuban-Spas service and two more from the Rosa Khutor rescue service walked towards the two snowboarders along the safest route. This was reported on the social networks of the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Team of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
Rescuer Pavel Ponurovsky said that they spent about two hours descending to the victims, and then spent a long time looking for a safe approach, since there were many gullies, streams and avalanches around.
According to Pavel, the freeriders were well prepared: in appropriate clothing, with avalanche gear and flashlights. At first, the snowboarders tried to look for their comrade using avalanche transceivers, digging the avalanche. Then another one came down next to them, and the guys started to climb the ridge - it was dangerous to stay below. It is also reported that at the time the snowboarders were found, their condition was satisfactory, and they walked to a safe place themselves, accompanied by rescuers.
Earlier, MK in Sochi wrote that the search for the third freerider was temporarily suspended due to the possibility of an avalanche.
