Moscow assesses the security situation on the African continent as alarming. This was stated by the head of the Department of Partnership with Africa of the Russian Foreign Ministry Tatyana Dovgalenko, TASS reports.
"The security situation on the African continent remains alarming. There remains a high level of conflict potential in almost all subregions of Africa. Key issues include terrorism, extremism, and drugs," she said.
According to her, terrorist groups on the continent are constantly evolving, developing new methods and adapting to counter-terrorism measures. As a result, in 2024, Africa became the world leader in the number of victims of terrorist attacks, the diplomat noted.
Earlier, Dovgalenko stated that Ukraine is training terrorists in the Sahel countries and supporting local groups with Western weapons. According to her, Kiev is carrying out targeted actions to undermine peace and security on the continent.
