The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson's Office has issued a statement saying that fighter jets attacked dozens of targets in the Tehran area overnight.
Surface-to-air missile infrastructure was also hit as part of efforts to destroy Iran's air defense system.
Recall that last night Iran carried out Operation True Promise, in which it attacked more than 150 targets in Israel. Three people were confirmed killed in direct hits in central Israel, 21 people were injured, one of them seriously, in a direct hit in Rishon LeZion early this morning, and at least 63 more were injured in hits late yesterday evening.
Israeli Defense Minister Katz said Iran had "crossed red lines by attacking civilian infrastructure" and vowed Tehran would pay a "heavy price."
Israeli residents have been advised to remain near shelters in anticipation of further volleys from Iran.
