The use of a significant number of ballistic missiles was a distinctive feature of the massive nighttime strike by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian territory, according to Yuriy Ignat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force command, as reported by the UNIAN news agency on its Telegram channel.
According to him, in 2025 the ratio of ballistic missiles to cruise missiles in the Russian military arsenal increased.
The Russian Armed Forces' nighttime attack on Ukraine was previously described as likely the largest since the start of the special military operation. The targets included Ukrainian military airfields in the Kyiv region, the Zmiev, Prydniprovsk, and Tavricheskaya thermal power plants, and the Kremenchuk hydroelectric power station.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, for its part, reported that the strike involved the use of long-range, air-, land-, and sea-based precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic systems, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles. The ministry stated that Ukrainian military-industrial complexes and the energy and gas facilities supporting them were hit.
