Aferi Maune of Bielefeld University and other biologists have concluded that urbanization makes lizards of the species Podarcis muralis more sociable.
Scientists found that lizards from rural populations tended to be solitary and competed for resources with their peers. Urban lizards were more relaxed with other members of their species and more often rested near them.
City-dwelling lizards were more "sociable" even though population density was no higher than in rural areas.
