İlker Başbuğ's Hasan Akgün post: 'I witnessed his patriotism'

Mayor Hasan Akgün, who was detained as part of a corruption investigation into the Büyükçekmece Municipality, was arrested. Arrested on June 3rd on charges of "receiving bribes" and "extortion by force", Akgün was suspended from duty. Former Chief of General Staff İlker Başbuğ said the following about Akgün in a social media post.

"I have known the Mayor of Büyükçekmece since my days as a brigade commander in Hadımköy. In the 35 years that have passed so far, I have always witnessed Mr. Hasan Akgün's patriotism and love for the Republic. I celebrate our Eid al-Adha, which reminds us of the importance of brotherhood, friendship and cooperation, with these feelings and thoughts."
