According to the news in Hürriyet, Cardiology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Keskin said, “There is a serious angiography /stent dependency in our country. Intervention is requested even for 30-40 percent stenosis. However, controlling risk factors is the real treatment.”
Cardiovascular Surgeon Prof. Dr. Barış Durukan warned, “According to scientific guidelines, 40 percent of angiograms performed come back negative, meaning no problem is found. Although these procedures are low-risk, they are not completely risk-free.”
Prof. Dr. Cengiz Köksal said, “Virtual angiography is important in terms of reducing risk. Angiography cannot be part of a routine check-up.”

Arguing that there is a similar trend in Türkiye, Soner Yalçın had written in his book 'Black Box' published in 2019, drawing attention to the facts that medical practice is shaped by economic pressures and that some practices have become "routine" under the guidance of the pharmaceutical/device industry.
It did not go unnoticed that, years after this book, he now addresses issues that the mainstream media had ignored.
