Trump to Sell Gold Cards to Foreign Investors for $5 Million

Trump made his remarks after signing the executive orders in the Oval Office.

Stating that they will sell a "gold card", Trump said, "We will put a price tag of approximately $5 million on this card, and it will give you the privileges of a 'green card' and will also provide a pathway to citizenship."

Stating that rich people will buy this card and come to the United States, Trump said that these people will spend a lot of money, pay a lot of taxes and provide many jobs.

Trump said they think this will be extremely successful and that they will present the program within the next two weeks.

Stating that they could sell 1 million or more of these cards, Trump said, "For example, 1 million cards would be worth $ 5 trillion. If we sell 10 million cards, it would be worth $50 trillion in total. We have a debt of $35 trillion, that would be good, we'll see."

When asked whether people from all countries would be eligible for this gold card, Trump said that this would vary depending on the situation and that the people to whom this card would be sold would be carefully examined.

Asked whether a Russian oligarch would be eligible for a gold card, Trump said: "Yes, probably. I know some Russian oligarchs, they are very good people."

The "EB-5 investor visa" program is ending

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick also called the EB-5 investor visa "nonsense" and argued that it was a way to get a green card at a low price.

Lutnick said that they will end the EB-5 program and explained that Trump wants to replace this program with a "gold card" program.

"They will certainly have to go through vetting, but they can come to America to make sure they are great global citizens of world class standards," Lutnick said of those who will be sold gold cards.

Lutnick noted that many other countries, including Canada , which he described as the "51st state," have implemented this program.

A green card gives holders the right to live and work in the United States indefinitely.

EB-5, a visa program designed for investor immigrants in the United States, allows people to get a green card by investing a certain amount in the country and creating jobs.
