Safar is the second month of the lunar/Hijri calendar, following Muharram. The belief that Safar is unlucky and that troubles and calamities occur frequently in this month dates back to the Age of Ignorance (Abu Dawud, Tibb, 24 [3914-3915]; see Bukhari, Tibb, 25 [5717]; Muslim, Salam, 101-103 [2220]) and has no place in our religion. Therefore, such a belief is a superstition. This month is no different from other months. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rejected such a notion and said, "There is no ill omen in Safar" (Bukhari, Tibb, 19). There is no specific prayer or form of worship specific to Safar. The daily acts of worship and supplication performed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are also performed in this month.
