Agriculture and livestock were destroyed by conflicts over prosperity

CHP Deputy Chairman Erhan Adem issued a written statement saying, "The state of agriculture in Turkey is clear. But what's even worse is that even the two AK Party leaders at the helm of agriculture are now denying each other's claims."
Adem, who noted that the Agricultural Strategy and Policy Development Foundation (TARPOL), chaired by former Minister of Agriculture Mehdi Eker and a member of the Presidential Agriculture and Food Policies Board, determined that foot-and-mouth disease in Turkey causes an annual loss of $4.1 billion, or approximately 162 billion TL, was rejected by the current Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, who said, "These figures are based on assumptions, hypothetical, and not real," made the following statement:
The Palace's agricultural council says one thing, the Ministry another. Both are members of the AKP, and both have managed this country's agriculture for years. Which one should we believe now? The issue here isn't just a debate between two former and current ministers over whether "my figure is correct." Today, producers in Türkiye are losing money because they send their animals to conditional slaughter. When producers lose money, consumers are forced to pay more for meat on the table. This isn't just an economic issue; it's a serious threat to public health, national agricultural security, and our food sovereignty. Now, one says "there is harm," the other says "no." They claim to have collaborated with the university, but there's no tangible impact on the ground. There's no solution for producers, no support for farmers, and no affordable food for citizens. The point the AKP has brought agriculture to is a complete bankruptcy. As the CHP, we warn: If you don't revive animal husbandry with a realistic, planned, and domestically produced model, this country will lose both its producers and impoverish its tables due to its dependence on foreign sources.
