Meydan Group, with its half-century of experience in the automotive spare parts sector, plays a significant role in the sector, with 3,500 dealers across Turkey and exports reaching 33 countries. The company boasts an extensive domestic network, including its headquarters in Konya, covering 15,000 square meters, and regional offices in Istanbul, Ankara, and Adana. It is also increasing its foreign trade presence with its logistics office in China.
Faruk Meydan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Meydan Group, told the ECONOMY newspaper that they are the largest company in Türkiye in their field, with a product range of 57,000 products. Meydan noted that they serve all of Türkiye, from Edirne to Hakkari, and that 30 percent of the company's annual turnover comes from exports.
Exports to 33 countriesFaruk Meydan, speaking about Sevgi Metal, a company within the Meydan Group that manufactures all vehicle bodywork, said, "We manufacture parts like hoods, fenders, bumper bars, and grilles here, and we export to 33 countries, from Europe and the Middle East to Argentina. We also produce OEM parts for companies like BMW, Mercedes, and Volkswagen. We also produce spare parts for TOGG brand vehicles. In addition to the automotive sector, we've also been producing in the defense industry for about a year and a half now. Today, we've become ASELSAN Konya's largest supplier."
Investment and export expectations for 2025 have risenMeydan stated that 2025 is promising for the sector, saying, “2024 was a problematic year for Turkey. Things didn't go well, especially on the export side. Not much changed in the first three months of 2025, but the changes in US tax policy, especially the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods, have increased demand for Turkish goods. In the last few months, orders have started coming from abroad, especially from European countries.”
Faruk Meydan, speaking about the company's investment plans, said, "This year, we've invested in machinery, robots, and presses for our factory. Additionally, depending on economic conditions, we plan to begin construction on our 50,000-square-meter factory in the Çumra Organized Industrial Zone, where we previously renovated the land."
“All manufacturers should see Konya’s industry.”Meydan stated that, as in all sectors, their biggest problem is finding employees. He emphasized that the current education system is failing to contribute to the industry, saying, "Our greatest need in industry right now is intermediate workers, what we call blue-collar workers. Unfortunately, the new recruits are not stable. We can't train people from our infrastructure. Universities and vocational high schools are very passive in this regard. We, as industrialists, want to contribute to the education sector with our own resources, but we don't find any response from our institutions."
Faruk Meydani, who stated that all kinds of production are made in Konya's industry, from gear parts to helicopter parts, added that they invited all manufacturers to see Konya's industry and that they should see this large production structure.
