An armed attacker clashed with the police in Balıkesir, causing bloodshed!

In an incident that occurred in the Edremit district of Balıkesir early this morning, a man terrorized the area while attempting to flee in a stolen vehicle. The suspect, who attacked a citizen with a gun on Ertürk Street in the Altınkum neighborhood and stole his vehicle, fled the scene. Numerous police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene after residents heard the gunshots. Paramedics pronounced the car's owner dead at the scene.
Police chase turns into clashThe suspect shot and killed one person and injured five others as he drove through the Yenimahalle, Akçay, and İkizçay neighborhoods in a stolen vehicle. Police launched a full-scale pursuit throughout the area, leading to the suspect's location. A chase with police quickly escalated into a shootout. Two police officers were injured during the encounter, and the attacker was neutralized.
Following the incident, reinforcements were dispatched to the area. Police took extensive security measures in the area. The injured police officers and residents were taken to hospitals after receiving first aid from paramedics.
GOVERNOR USTAOĞLU: THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN NEUTRALIZEDBalıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu conducted an investigation at the scene and made a statement to the press. Ustaoğlu said, “After receiving a report that a vehicle had been hijacked and weapons used on Ertürk Street in the Altınkum neighborhood, our teams immediately dispatched to the scene. It was determined that one of our citizens had been killed and his vehicle had also been stolen. The suspect fled the scene in the hijacked vehicle and later killed another citizen and injured five others elsewhere. During a hot pursuit to apprehend the suspect, two police officers were injured in a shootout in the Edremit district center, and the suspect was neutralized at the time.”
Governor Ustaoğlu stated that five injured citizens and two police officers are continuing their treatment in hospitals. Expressing his sadness over the incident, Ustaoğlu said, “I pray for God's mercy upon the citizens who lost their lives and a speedy recovery for the injured. Our Edremit Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident, and two public prosecutors have been assigned.”
Ustaoğlu later visited the injured who were being treated at Edremit State Hospital and surrounding private hospitals and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery.
