Operation at Izmir Metropolitan Municipality! Tunç Soyer was detained

Many people, including former mayor Tunç Soyer, were detained in the investigation launched by the Izmir Public Prosecutor's Office against the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

It was learned that detention orders were issued for 157 people within the scope of the investigation.

Among the detained names is CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu.

"CORRUPTION BY THE HAND OF IZBETON COMPANIES"

The following statements were made by the prosecutor's office:

"Corruption by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality/Izbeton and subcontractor companies has been detected based on the Court of Accounts Report, Civil Inspector Report, Expert Reports, and within the scope of the investigation carried out under the coordination of Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office;

In line with the identified crime elements, operational work was carried out on 01.07.2025 and detention orders were issued for 157 people.

Buca Deputy Mayor Engin Güzel,

Former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Özgür Ozan,

Izmir Chamber of Commerce Council Member Çağlar Kalkan,

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Eşrefpaşa Hospital Deputy Chief Physician Gaffar Karadoğan,

Bayraklı Deputy Mayor Mehmet Hanifi Mert Yılmaz,

CHP Bornova District Deputy Chairman Haydar İzgin,

It was learned that the suspect is Fırat Erkol, the son of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Övünç Özgen and CHP Ankara Provincial Chairman Ümit Erkol.
