Russian composer Shostakovich was commemorated as part of the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra's DenizBank Concerts.

The Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra's DenizBank Concerts concert, held in memory of Shostakovich's 50th death anniversary, offered a musical feast for art lovers. Held at the Atatürk Cultural Center, the orchestra was conducted by world-renowned conductor Howard Griffiths, with Erkut Gökgöz (trumpet) and Kandemir Basmacıoğlu (piano) serving as soloists.
The concert began with "Esintilersuite" (Esintilersuite), a folk-inspired piece by Ferit Tüzün, a contemporary representative of Turkish music. In the second part of the evening, Dmitri Shostakovich's Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra in C Minor, Op. 35, a work woven with exquisite craftsmanship and exquisite musicality, was performed. The work, with Gökgöz and Basmacıoğlu's powerful technique and the orchestra's exquisite harmony, was captivatingly performed on the AKM stage. The program concluded with Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major, Op. 97 "Rhenish," one of the most important representatives of the Romantic era. This work, which captures the peace Schumann found on the banks of the Rhine and captures elements of the region's nature and architecture, offered the audience an unforgettable musical experience under the direction of Howard Griffiths.
The Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra DenizBank Concerts will continue to meet art lovers with the "Republic Day Concert" to be held on Friday, October 24.
