US approves $510 million arms sale to Israel

The US State Department approved the sale of a total of $510 million worth of ammunition guidance packages upon Israel's request . It was emphasized that the sale would increase Israel's defense infrastructure and precision attack capacity . According to a statement by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) , the official approval for the sale was given by the US State Department and forwarded to the US Congress . The scope of the sale includes high-precision guidance kits , engineering support and logistics services in line with Israel's request .

In the statement, it was stated that 3,845 KMU-558B/B guidance kits for BLU-109 bombs and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits for MK 82 bombs will be delivered.

The DSCA statement reported that the sales package includes not only ammunition but also engineering, logistics and technical support services to be provided by the US government and contractor companies .

It was stated that the sale in question directly supports the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States , and that " Israel's security is of vital importance to the interests of the United States ."

The statement stressed that the sale of these ammunitions will strengthen Israel's capacity to combat current and future threats . It was noted that Israel's ability to defend its borders, infrastructure and population centers will be improved in particular.

The sale will also increase Israel's interoperability with U.S. forces and further strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.

It was stated that some of the JDAM guidance kits included in the sale will be supplied from the US government's existing stocks . It was emphasized that this sale will not have a negative impact on the US's defense readiness .
