Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce engagement

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged.
The pop star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared the joyous news in an Instagram post Tuesday, writing in the caption, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
The post included several photos from the couple's engagement, including a snap of Kelce down on one knee. In the photos, the two are seen standing in a garden, surrounded by flowers, with Swift wearing a striped summer dress and Kelce in a dark blue collared shirt and white shorts. The post also included a photo of Swift's ring, a large radiant-cut stone set in a simple band.
The engagement comes just weeks after Swift made her debut on Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, retired NFL star Jason Kelce. Swift announced her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," during the podcast episode and spoke about the couple's relationship.
"He's just a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in," Swift said of her now-fiance during the episode. "He's like a human exclamation point."
Swift and Kelce have been dating since 2023.

Speculation around their relationship arose in September of 2023 when Swift attended her first Kansas City football game and was spotted alongside Kelce's mom, Donna Kelce.
Her appearance at that game came after Kelce said on his podcast in July 2023 that he tried to meet Swift after one of her Eras Tour shows at Arrowhead Stadium that summer to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it but was unsuccessful.
Kelce confirmed their relationship in November 2023 during an interview with WSJ. Magazine. "Obviously I've never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them…. I've never dealt with it," he said.
He added, "But at the same time, I'm not running away from any of it…. The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she's just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange."

Kelce also shared how Swift has changed his life. "Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been f------ mind-blowing," he said at the time. "I'm learning every day."
Swift shared more about how their relationship came about in her December 2023 TIME Person of the Year interview. "This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell," she told the outlet at the time.
"We started hanging out right after that," she added. "So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."
The singer also told TIME that she and Kelce were "showing up for each other" by attending each other's shows and games -- this after he attended one of her Eras Tour concerts in the summer and she returned the favor by attending a Chiefs game. "We're just proud of each other," she added.
Since then, Swift has cheered Kelce on at countless Chiefs games, both Super Bowl LVIII and Super Bowl LIX, and he was seen attending many Eras Tour stops, even joining her onstage at her stop in London in June 2024.
