Emilio Estevez pitches a sequel to Maximum Overdrive. Pedro Pascal reveals what invertebrate inspired his Mr. Fantastic. And could Jesus Christ be the latest public domain character to get his own slasher movie? Not Penny’s Boat, it’s Morning Spoilers!
Dave Filoni’s Star WarsIn conversation with Collider, Dave Filoni suggested he’s taking his time with his Star Wars movie because he isn’t sure how the second season of Ahsoka will effect the story just yet.
Avengers: DoomsdayIt’s a long development. One of the reasons why is I like to work on very large arcs, and I try to factor in all the things that I’m creating simultaneously and look at them and say, ‘Well, how do we do unique things? What are unique set pieces, and where is the story going? What’s the play of the story?’ I ask myself these questions. I have general outlines for all these things, general timelines for all these things. I keep moving the pieces on the board for a big strategy. That’s the way I’ve always worked since I started on Clone Wars, and I got to the end of that series finally.
You keep that in your mind in the future while you’re working on the present. So, right now, I’ll be on Season 2 [of Ahsoka], and as those stories develop, it might change things that would affect what’s happening in the future and what I would do. At times, it’s a balancing act, but I’m constantly working at it, working out scenes. I know several scenes and where they would go, so you just kind of plug it in as you go.
Anthony Mackie revealed he’s now filming Avengers: Doomsday in a recent Instagram story captured by Screen Rant.
Maximum Overdrive 2During his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Emilio Estevez revealed he’s personally written a sequel to Maximum Overdrive, but the powers-that-be didn’t like his take.
The Slashin’ of the ChristWith the advent of more computer technology and AI and all of that, I started to imagine what a sequel to Maximum Overdrive would look like. And during the [2023 SAG-AFTRA] strike, I wrote one. I started page 1, I started an idea, now on I’m on page 10, I’m on page 20, now it’s 50 pages, and I can’t stop. Dino De Laurentiis owns the rights to Maximum Overdrive. I created an insane world.
[Bill, Estevez’s character] got his own diner, he’s got a young daughter, and he’s got his crew, his people. And Guy Fieri is coming to do Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the day the world falls apart and machines turn. It was a cool idea. It’s a bitchin’ script, man. And De Laurentiis was like, ‘Nope. We have the rights to this. We’re not interested. We’re going to pursue our own thing.’ I was like, ‘Okay.’
Bloody-Disgusting reports Ice Nine Kills’ frontman Spencer Charnas has teamed with Broken Lizard’s Paul Soter and FX legend Greg Nicotero on The Slashin’ of the Christ, a “violent horror-comedy” reimagining Jesus of Nazareth as a bloodthirsty maniac.
BladeSpeaking with Entertainment Weekly, actor Delroy Lindo, who was previously attached to play a “Marcus Garvey-type” in the MCU’s Blade, states the project “just went off the rails.”
Fantastic Four: First StepsWhen Marvel came to me, they seemed to be really interested in my input. And in the various conversations I had with producers, the writer, the director at the time, it was all leading into being very inclusive. It was really exciting conceptually, but it was also exciting in terms of the character that was going to form. And then, for whatever reason, it just went off the rails.
Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal told Comic Book his portrayal of Reed Richards in Fantastic Four: First Steps was inspired by “the brilliance of an octopus.”
SupermanWith Reed, his body may stretch, but this is a brain character. I guess I’ll just give it completely away. I thought of the brilliance of an octopus. Not in any literal physical translated way, but I put it into my subconscious. Yeah. That’s the biggest character secret reveal that I’ve given to you.
A new Superman poster gives you exactly that: Superman, up close. Nice to know his neck has a little bit of breathing room. Or maybe his head stretched it out from repeated use? This isn’t an origin story, after all!

During a recent interview with THR, Daredevil: Born Again director Aaron Moorehead acknowledged the fan theory Foggy survived his attack from Bullseye, as a nearby building’s address was shown to be “468”—the exact issue of Daredevil where it’s revealed Foggy faked his death and was placed into the witness protection program in response to a similar plan of Vanessa Fisk’s.
Doctor WhoI’ve heard this theory, you eagle-eyed geniuses. I would love to tell you, however, Marvel will snipe me if I say anything else. But what is really nice about Daredevil being a street-level superhero is that, generally, the supernatural doesn’t really interact with this universe as much, even though it is within the MCU. So that often gives much stronger consequences where punches hurt more and blood means more and getting hurt means more and dying very often does mean that you’re actually dead. But that’s all I can say.
