Famous twerk master dies after being struck by a boat's propeller

Julina de Lannoy, famous for her experience as a twerk instructor and originally from Aruba, was enjoying her vacation in Italy with six friends. Last Saturday, they decided to rent a boat to explore the charming Lake Como, located in the north of the country.

While they were on the trip, a second boat, driven by a 44-year-old local resident, collided head-on with the boat they were traveling in. As a result of the impact, Julina fell into the water and was struck by the other boat's propeller.

The girl suffered a serious leg injury caused by a propeller blade. Although she was rescued alive and immediately taken to a nearby hospital, doctors were unable to save her due to the severity of the injury.

Authorities in Italy seized both boats and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. They are investigating whether the operator of the second boat, who was also hospitalized and is being monitored, made a maneuvering error. This individual was given a breathalyzer test.

Julina's friends said her boat was moving at a slow speed at the time of the accident.

Julina, 33, founded Caribbean Twerk Brussels , an initiative she launched in 2022 with the aim of teaching this style of urban dance in both Belgium and Amsterdam. She began her career as an instructor in Luxembourg in 2020.

Aside from her passion for dancing, she had a job at a department store in Brussels and had been involved in Aruba with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls , a youth group focused on leadership for women.
