In early 2025, residents of the Los Geranios neighborhood in Manta heard a gunshot coming from a house rented by the victim, 18-year-old Keyla Pilay. The young woman was found dead in the living room. The prime suspect in the murder, her partner Andy M., fled the scene after the incident.
He was captured weeks later with a criminal organizationOn February 16, police arrested Andy M. in the Eloy Alfaro parish during a raid. Three other people were also arrested in the same operation: Dominic Z., Jordi J., and Ángel F. , who are suspected of belonging to a criminal group specializing in car theft.
During the operation, evidence was seized, including a stolen car, various documents, a cell phone, and 260 grams of marijuana. The defendant also had two prior arrests for robbery and an outstanding warrant for femicide.
