'As we left, we had glass bottles thrown at us': British MP threatened with machete during visit to migrant camp near Calais

The attack comes amid a tense situation. Chris Philp, a British MP and Shadow Home Secretary, said he was attacked by several individuals during a visit to a migrant camp near Calais and Dunkirk on Tuesday, August 12.

A scene he recounted to GB News: "While I was talking to some migrants, one of them took out a curved machete and started waving it around, after which we left quite quickly. As we left, we were pelted with glass bottles."
The Conservative MP decided to make the trip after watching a GB News report showing the complex situation in a migrant camp in northern France, broadcast at the end of July. The documentary also featured journalist Patrick Christys.
