Cyanobacteria: Most swimming areas will still be closed this week

In its weekly update on Thursday, August 14, the regional health agency (ARS) announced the continued temporary closure of some of the bathing sites in Périgord.
No big surprises this week. In its weekly update on Thursday, August 14, the regional health agency (ARS) listed the swimming sites that are under surveillance or temporarily closed due to cyanobacteria. And there's no major change in the situation. The swimming sites of Coux-et-Bigaroque and Limeuil are no longer under surveillance. However, the ponds of Saint-Estèphe and Rouffiac are under enhanced surveillance. This means that swimming is permitted, but showering is strongly recommended after bathers leave the water.
A new closure for this weekRegarding the temporary closure of swimming areas, ten sites are affected in the Dordogne, one more than last week: Montagrier, on the Dronne. As for the sites of Port-Sainte-Foy and Saint-Aulaye, swimming is not currently authorized, but this ban could be lifted or confirmed depending on the results of toxin analyses, which will soon be revealed. For the remaining sites, the closure remains in place for Alles-sur-Dordogne, Brantôme, Castelnaud-le-Chapelle, Douchapt, le Buisson-de-Cadouin, Lisle, and Tocane. Please note that regarding recreational fishing, it is recommended not to consume fish caught in and around these areas. Water activities such as canoeing and kayaking remain possible (outside of closed swimming areas), but it is important to take certain precautions, such as not swimming and avoiding contact with clumps of algae.
