Montpellier (34): while he was walking his chihuahua, two men tried to snatch it from him and hit him with crutches; a Moroccan and an Italian were arrested, they were believed to be in an irregular situation

The incident took place on Wednesday night in the Antigone neighborhood of Place de Thessalie. The animal's young owner claims to have been attacked.
While he was in the Place de Thessalie, he encountered a group of four individuals. Two of them approached him, apparently attracted by the small dog. According to the victim, the situation quickly escalated: the two men tried to snatch the animal from him and even hit him with a crutch. Insults were also hurled.
[…]The two men, aged 21 and 22, of Moroccan and Italian nationality, described themselves as homeless. While in police custody, they deny any attempted robbery. According to them, they simply wanted to “pet the dog” and ask where it had been purchased.
Thanks to the victim's precise description, the police had no trouble tracking down the suspects. One of them was reportedly using a crutch at the time of the incident. Both men remain in police custody. Their administrative status is also being examined: both are believed to be in an irregular situation and could be subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF).
