Dordogne farmer drowns after checking strawberry irrigation system

A 56-year-old man, missing since the previous day, was found drowned in a pond on his property on Saturday, July 5. The farmer wanted to check his strawberry irrigation system and, for unknown reasons, fell into the water.
On the evening of Friday, July 4, a family living in Val-de-Louyre-et-Caudeau alerted law enforcement following the disappearance of a 56-year-old man. The farmer had gone to check his strawberry irrigation system around 6 p.m. and, when he didn't return, his family initially went looking for him, the police said, before alerting them.
Finally, his body was found the next morning, around 9 a.m., in the pond, a few meters from his vehicle. According to the gendarmerie, the fifty-year-old is known for having recurring ailments and had recently suffered a stroke.
The mayor of the town, Philippe Ducène, has been informed of this. When contacted, he has not yet responded to our requests.
