The children who ran over the elderly woman were caught on surveillance camera.

The children filmed immediately before the fatal accident
They are between 11 and 13 years old, three boys and a girl, barely more than children, yet they managed to steal a car and drive it into a woman, killing her. Four teenagers were arrested Tuesday morning for hitting and killing 71-year-old Cecilia De Astis with a stolen car on Via Saponaro in Milan. The four were found at 7:00 a.m. inside an illegal nomad camp on Via Selvanesco , in Gratosoglio, not far from the scene of the tragedy. They were all born in Italy of Bosnian origin, and, given their age, are not responsible. Milan's local police officers reached them in just under 24 hours by way of the T-shirts they were wearing, which were captured on security cameras in the area of the accident. From there, the shop where the T-shirts were purchased was traced: the store's video surveillance system returned more detailed images of the faces that allowed the three boys and the girl to be identified.
Given that the case filed Monday for aggravated vehicular homicide by Milan's public prosecutor, Enrico Pavone, is now not punishable, it will now be handed over to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office. The relevant authorities will decide whether they pose a danger to society and, if necessary, take measures such as possible placement in a community. The elderly woman's death has sparked controversy and drawn attention to the degradation in which the Roma group lives on Via Selvanesco. "The settlement dates back to about a year ago: we risk fighting every day. Two weeks ago they stole two cars, brought them here, and set them on fire. They do all sorts of things, and we can't do anything," a resident told LaPresse. " Before," he continued, "there was a barrier here on Via Selvanesco, and only those with a small garden could enter ." Then they arrived, broke the lock on the barrier and entered: they are stealing everything from us."
