China in deflation in May, consumer prices down 0.1%

China remains in deflation at May, for the fourth month in a row, discounting weak demand internal. According to data from the National Statistics Office, prices consumer spending showed a 0.1% decline on an annual basis, maintaining the same pace for three consecutive months, compared to estimates equal to -0.2%. On a monthly basis, however, the decline is -0.2% (from +0.1% in April). Producer prices fell to -3.3% (against the -3.2% forecast by analysts), after the -2.7% of April. The decline is the 32nd in a row, the worst since July 2023, on uncertainties over US tariffs and weak demand.
