Carlos Manzo, the mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, who ran as an independent candidate and had pleaded for help from the federal government to confront organized crime, was executed last night in the heart of that city during a Day of the Dead event.
"I'm very afraid, but I have to be brave, we have no other choice. We can't give anything away." One step backward puts our future at risk "Life is at risk, our government and the citizens are at risk."
