The Podlasie Border Guard branch reported that the drone was "filled with illegal cigarettes." It was found in the Krynki commune. Criminals were using it to smuggle approximately 400 packages with Belarusian excise tax.

The Border Guard also summarized the number of such incidents in 2025 – a total of 18 cigarette smuggling attempts, if only UAVs are considered. However, weather balloons are used much more frequently (over 85 percent of cases), with 118 such attempts recorded.

"The estimated value of the discovered cigarettes totals 3.4 million zloty," reports the Border Guard. So far, security officials have detained 29 people in connection with these crimes.

What is the situation like in Poland's eastern reaches? The Border Guard regularly publishes statistics about attempts to cross the border without permission, as well as serious incidents involving uniformed services officers who risk their health and lives every day.

For example, on Wednesday (November 4), at the border with Belarus, the Polish side recorded six attempts to illegally enter the European Union. Things were also heated. "Logs and barbed wire were thrown at the patrols. Two Border Guard vehicles were also damaged," we read on the X platform.
