Election interference: the goal is to harm a candidate and destabilize

The analysis indicates a possible provocation. Its purpose could have been to harm the candidate allegedly supported by such ads and to destabilize the situation before the presidential elections .

"We informed ABW about the incident, but we did not issue a notification," explained NASK director Dr. Radosław Nielek in an interview with PAP, noting that "these are two different procedures."

He emphasized that this is not the first such situation. "Cooperation with the ABW has been quite intensive since the beginning of the election campaign. We try to monitor events that, in our opinion, may affect the elections and inform about them, sensitize both the services and public opinion," said Dr. Eng. Nielek.

"We all know very well who wants to influence the electoral process in Poland, so I wouldn't expect any surprising directions here," he added. He noted, however, that attribution falls within the competence of the ABW. "Our key task as NASK is to limit such events," he explained.

Suspicious accounts were reported to Meta and ABW

"Political advertisements that could have been paid for from abroad and had the characteristics of disinformation were blocked by Meta after the intervention," NASK reported.

The Internal Security Agency was informed about the case . Actions are being taken to determine the sources of origin and financing of the campaign.

- Hundreds of thousands of złoty were spent on advertising campaigns on the Meta portal regarding several presidential candidates. This money was not approved by the electoral committees - informed the Minister of Digital Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski . He noted that the Polish state acted quickly and effectively.

- There are hundreds of thousands of złoty at stake and large reach - said the deputy prime minister. - The money was not approved by the election committees, which is why we alerted the State Electoral Commission - he added.

- I think that the Internal Security Agency will engage all forces and resources to determine who was behind this and how everything was organized - he assured. - I know one thing: the Polish state, as part of the "electoral umbrella", acted quickly and effectively - concluded the Minister of Digital Affairs.
