The 14th pension was introduced in 2021 as a form of support for retirees and pensioners. The benefit is paid automatically, without the need to submit applications.

Its amount depends on the lowest pension. After the March indexation, the benefit is PLN 1,878.91 gross . However, not everyone will receive the full amount. According to the laws, the full benefit is available to people whose pension or disability pension does not exceed PLN 2,900 gross. For people with higher incomes, the "zloty for zloty" rule applies.

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy announced that the official payment schedule will be announced in the second half of 2025, but the ministry expects the "fourteenth pension" to be transferred to accounts in September.

14. Pension not only for seniors. It will also go to children's accounts

According to calculations by the Social Insurance Institution, there are around 9 million pensioners and annuitants in Poland. Over a million people receive a family pension (1.168 million in March 2025). As Interia reminds, the 14th pension, which is paid in the second half of the year, will go to the accounts of not only seniors. ZUS also sends money to pensioners, including those receiving a family pension.

However, in order to receive a pension, certain conditions must be met. To qualify for a survivor's pension after the deceased, the deceased should, while alive (it is enough to meet one condition):

  • have an established right to a pension or meet the conditions for obtaining it,
  • have an established right to a bridging pension,
  • have an established right to a disability pension or have met the conditions for obtaining it,
  • receive pre-retirement benefits,
  • receive pre-retirement benefits,
  • receive teacher compensation benefits.

A child is entitled to benefits after the deceased if it was the child's own child, the child of the other spouse, but also if it was an adopted child.

Family pension is granted to:

  • until the age of 16,
  • if they are studying - until they are 25 years old,
  • regardless of age, if they became totally incapable of work before reaching the age of 16 or, in the case of continuing school, before reaching the age of 25.
How much will the 14th pension be in the case of a survivors’ pension?

Only one fourteenth pension is assigned to each survivor's pension. So if the deceased person has a survivor's pension that must be shared by three children, the 14th pension will also be divided between three people.
