Pope Leo XIV revealed his vision of the Church during a meeting with cardinals
In his first meeting with all the cardinals since his election as pope on May 8, Leo XIV asked the highest-ranking clergy to renew their commitment to the important church reforms enacted at the groundbreaking Second Vatican Council in the 1960s.
Leo XIV said Francis, who died on April 21, had a vision of opening the church to the modern world, leaving behind “an example of total dedication to service.” “Let us take up this precious legacy and continue the journey,” the new pope told the cardinals.
