Bragantino draws with Grêmio and shares the lead in the Brazilian Championship with Flamengo

Bragantino draws with Grêmio and shares the lead in the Brazilian Championship with Flamengo

Tricolor Gaúcho will play again next Tuesday, in the Copa Sul-Americana, against Godoy Cruz. Bragantino will play next Sunday, in the Brasileirão, against Palmeiras.

How was the game?

The first half was uneventful. Despite playing at home, Grêmio finished the first half with fewer shots on goal than their opponents: in total, the Tricolor only had 3 shots on goal, while the São Paulo team had 6. Bragantino managed to control the ball, but technical errors in the final half of the field prevented any danger to Tiago Volpi.

The second half improved, and the goalkeepers worked hard . If the team lacked accuracy in the first 45 minutes, they adjusted their aim after the break. Bragantino came back from the locker room, bothering Volpi, who made a great save on a shot by Lucas Barbosa. Braithwaite led the Gremista comeback, and then it was Cleiton's turn to appear in the game, blocking two dangerous chances.

Goals heat up the game in the final stretch. Grêmio grew in the game with substitutions by Mano Menezes and Amuzu shone with a goal near the end. While the fans were still celebrating, shortly after, Isidro Pitta equalized and silenced the stadium in Porto Alegre.

Highlights

Volpi saves! Six minutes into the second half, Jhon Jhon crossed from the left looking for Lucas Barbosa, who rose into the penalty area and headed the ball firmly. The Grêmio goalkeeper acted quickly to save the ball and prevent what would have been a goal for Bragantino.
