Caldense cyclist João Almeida climbed to 13th place overall in the Tour de France today. After some difficulties in yet another stage with many adventures, the cyclist from A-dos-Francos still had time to help Pogacar and launch him into the sprint. The leader crossed the finish line in second, behind Van der Poel (Alpecin) while the Caldense rider finished in 15th place in the stage that allowed him to climb 47 places in the overall, putting him on the verge of the top 10.
More important than his own classification is that the team leader is currently in second place overall, 4 seconds behind the winner of today's stage.
After failing to be in the main group on the first day and losing around 40 seconds, the Caldense rider showed himself to be in good form today and began to recover his time. Based on the first two stages of this year's edition of the Tour, we can already anticipate a month of great entertainment.
Tomorrow the third stage will take place, covering 178 kilometres, between Valenciennes and Dunkerque, on a mostly flat route, which should favour the sprinters.
A more difficult stage is scheduled for Tuesday, before the first individual time trial, 33 kilometres long, in Caen.
