Man arrested for domestic violence
A 53-year-old man was arrested by the Vila Real Republican Guard (GNR) through the Peso da Régua Criminal Investigation Unit. The charge is domestic violence.
In a statement, the Vila Real Territorial Command explained that the arrest occurred as part of an investigation that had been ongoing “for about two years”, adding that “the suspect exercised physical, verbal and psychological violence against his 49-year-old wife”.
“Following the action, a home search warrant and two vehicle searches were carried out, which culminated in the arrest of the individual and the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition,” reads the same note.
The detainee was charged and the facts were referred to the Peso da Régua Judicial Court.
