Pontiff celebrated the end of the conclave and highlighted his closeness to Brazilians in a video released by Father Marcelo Rossi

Pope Leo XIII moved Brazilian believers this Saturday (10) when he sent his first message to the country. The video with the message from the new leader of the Catholic Church was shared on the official profile of Father Marcelo Rossi, who received the post from a friend.

In his message, the pontiff addressed the Augustinian Order in particular, of which he is a member: " To all the Augustinian brothers, and brothers and sisters of Brazil: it is a great joy to celebrate the conclusion of this Conclave here in Rome. May God always be with you. Thank you for your work. May the Lord's blessing be with you always, amen."

He is the first member of the Order of Saint Augustine to lead the Catholic Church. Founded in the 13th century, the order is one of the most important and traditional in the Church, based on principles of charity and closeness to the poor. Present in 50 countries — including Brazil — it administers churches, schools and priories around the world.

American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, 69, was elected new pope last Wednesday (8). Born in Chicago, United States , he built much of his religious trajectory in Latin America, especially in Peru.
