A woman was shot on Saturday night, the 26th, during a party on a street in Jardim Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. She was hit by a bullet in the collarbone and is hospitalized at Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Realengo.

According to the Municipal Health Department, which manages the hospital, her condition is not at risk of death and her health is stable.

According to TV Globo , witnesses said that criminals from the Comando Vermelho (Red Command) attempted to invade the area, which is controlled by militia members, and an armed confrontation ensued. The victim was shot while talking to others on the sidewalk, around 9:30 p.m.

The woman was identified as Tatiane Werneck, 43. She was visiting a relative when she was shot. After being shot, she was taken to the hospital, where she underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Residents of the region say that the area has suffered from clashes between drug traffickers and militiamen for years due to territorial disputes.
