Kirov residents are warned about the change in the operating mode of the traffic light near the city hall

In Kirov, at the intersection of Vorovskogo and Karl Marx streets, changes are coming to the traffic light system.

This decision was made by the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in connection with alarming statistics: the number of accidents involving pedestrians at this intersection has increased significantly. A new traffic flow control scheme will be introduced to improve road safety.

The essence of the changes is the separation of traffic and pedestrian flows in time. Now pedestrians will be able to cross the road only when the traffic light is prohibiting cars. This means that the green light will be constantly on for pedestrians, while motorists will be forced to wait at red.

According to specialists from the Central Dispatch Service, this measure will significantly reduce the risk of road accidents involving pedestrians.

However, it is important to note that the green light for pedestrians will only come on after all vehicles have passed through Vorovskogo and Karl Marx Streets in all directions. Thus, pedestrians will have to wait a little – the waiting time will be 117 seconds.

The permissive signal for pedestrians will be on for only 21 seconds. We remind you that diagonal movement through the intersection is prohibited due to the lack of appropriate road markings.

During the first days of the new traffic control scheme, traffic police officers will be on duty at the intersection of Vorovskogo and Karl Marx streets to monitor order and provide assistance to road users. This will minimize possible inconveniences and ensure a smooth transition to the new traffic control system.
